Child Development officer dies after vehicle found overturned

A child development officer at the Summerfield Girl's Home in Clarendon died yesterday after her motor vehicle was found overturned in bushes in the parish.

She has been identified as 30-year-old Kimberly Risden.

Her 5-year-old son, who was also found inside the vehicle, has been treated at hospital and released.

According to reports, Risden's Honda CRV sport utility vehicle was found metres off the Sevens Estate Road shortly after 7 o'clock.

There are no reports of what happened, but residents say the area where the vehicle was found is dark and very busy.

In addition, they say the road surface was wet following heavy rains yesterday.

The Clarendon Police have commenced an investigation to determine what happened.

Baldwin McKenzie, Parish Manager for the Social Development Commission and co-chair of the Clarendon Inter-Agency Network, said Risden was a very involved social worker.

McKenzie said she regularly attended meetings and was someone he could rely on to go the extra mile to serve the people of Clarendon.

"It's a great loss. The agency has indeed lost a committed and ardent worker," he said.

Friends and loved ones posted tributes on Risden's Facebook page, some expressing shock at her sudden passing.
