The beauty of submission - a word for wives
(Ephesians 5:22-33)
Wives, the litmus test of our submission to Christ is our submission to our husbands.
If we cannot submit to our husbands, then we are not submitted to Christ.
We must understand what it means to be submitted to Christ in order to submit ourselves to our husbands. We are in a beautiful place of rest and security when we are totally surrendered to Christ, our Saviour. It should be the same picture of beauty when we submit to our husbands in everything.
The husband is the head of the wife just as Christ is the head of the Church and Saviour of the body. In other words, our husbands' role in our lives is meant to mirror Christ's role in the Church. This is a big promotion that our husbands stepped into when they said 'I do'. We should be honoured to be submitted to our husbands who God called to such an awesome position.
Respect due!
Christ laid down His life for the Church, His body. We are to our husbands what the Church is to Christ and, therefore, the full extent of their love for us is that they must be willing to give their lives for us. That's a matter for our husbands to examine themselves on.
Meanwhile, we have a command to obey: "Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord."
