Portland couple killed in crash
A Portland couple was killed in a motor vehicle crash along the Iteboreale main road in St Mary on Wednesday, May 16.
They have since been identified as 61-year-old Adrian Peters, a senior survey technician of East Harbour Road in Port Antonio and 54-year-old Carol-Mae Adams of Anchovy Land Settlement, also in the parish.
It's reported that about 3:30 the two were travelling in a Toyota Corolla motor car towards Portland when a truck, travelling in the opposite direction, allegedly overtook a car.
It's further reported that Peters, who was driving the Corolla, swerved from the path of the truck to avoid a collision and lost control of the vehicle.
The car crashed into a wall and the two were pinned down inside the vehicle.
Bystanders rushed to assist Peters and Adams, using hammers and other tools to access the vehicle in an attempt to remove them from the wreckage.
The police were eventually called in to assist and the two were rushed to hospital where they died while being treated.
At the time of the crash, Peters and Adams were heading back to Portland after reportedly dropping off their son at the airport.
