Selfie-sticks are among nearly a dozen items the police say will not be allowed inside the National Stadium this evening for the 15th staging of the Jamaica International Invitations track and field meet.

Other banned items include firearms, firecrackers, alcoholic beverages, umbrellas with sharp points, large igloos, devices capable of creating flames and bottles with frozen liquid.

However, the police say two-litre bottles and personal bottles will be allowed.

They are also urging licensed firearm holders to make arrangements for the safekeeping of their weapons. “Persons may contact the Stadium Police for assistance,” the police Corporate Communications Unit (CCU) suggested.

CCU is also assuring patrons that the police will be deployed in adequate numbers to ensure order and safety during and after the meet.
