Detectives from the Narcotics Division have arrested a major player in the illegal drugs-for-guns trade and the seizure of just under five hundred pounds of ganja, which has an estimated street value of over $1.9 million.

According to the detectives, an anti-narcotics operation was carried out in the St. Catherine South Division on Sunday, June 03 when a Toyota Noah was signalled to stop at the intersection of Lakes Pen and Municipal Boulevard.

The police say the driver complied and during a search of the vehicle nine knitted bags containing 43 parcels with compressed ganja weighing approximately 490 pounds were allegedly found.

According to the police, the driver, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was arrested while the vehicle and the ganja were seized.

The police say he will be interviewed in the presence of his attorney before being charged.
