NWC assessing St Mary water issues

The National Water Commission (NWC) says it is carrying out an assessment to determine options to resolve issues affecting some of its facilities in St Mary and to restore piped water to affected customers.
The NWC reports that on-going land slippages have been causing frequent dislocation of some pipelines, forcing a scale down of operations at its Sandhill plant.
The Commission further says its Rock Spring plant is also being affected by frequent breaks on the transmission pipeline, which is causing water supply disruptions to some customers.
The agency says currently customers are being served on a regulated basis or via trucked water.
Areas affected include Port Maria, Mort Maria Housing Scheme, Sand side, Albion Mountain, Grey Street, Church Street, Bailey’s Vale, Trinity, Cambridge, Free Hill, Oxford, parts of Cox Street, Rock Spring, Beecham Hill, Zion Hill, Flint River, Parts of Richmond, Essex, Orange River Housing Scheme and Marlborough.
Meanwhile, the NWC is reporting that it is working to resume operations at its Enfield facility in the parish by Wednesday, June 6, 2018.
The NWC notes that plant was shut down due to mechanical failure and works are now in progress to repair the damaged equipment.
This has affected water supply to some communities to include Dover, Epsom, Windsor Castle and Enfield, and Juno Pen.
