Licensed firearm holders planning to attend today’s Racers Grand Prix Athletics meet are being reminded by the police that they will not be allowed to take their weapons inside the National Stadium.

The police say persons with licensed firearms must make arrangements for the safekeeping of their weapons and may contact the Stadium Police at 946-1831 for assistance.

In addition, the police say selfie-sticks, alcoholic beverages and umbrella with points are among several items that will be permitted inside the stadium.

Other banned items include weapons, fireworks or devices capable of creating flames, glass bottles beverages or bottles with frozen liquid and large igloos.

However, the police say two-litre plastic bottles and personal bottles (squeeze or otherwise) will be allowed.

They are assuring patrons that police personnel will be deployed in adequate numbers to ensure safety and order before, during and after the event.
