My faith carried me through
A slight drop in her grades caused tension and uncertainty for Gabrielle Pessoa and her family as she prepared for the Grade Six Achievement Test. She kept focused, however, and is rejoicing today having gained a place at St Andrew High School for Girls with an average of 93 per cent.
"I remember on the day of the exam, a few persons were crying and I started crying a little but I got myself together and stayed focused. I was worried about math because that's my least favourite subject," said Gabrielle.
"My grades fell in grade six. However, I kept working hard. When I did my third mock exam my teacher told me that my grades were improving," she said.
Gabrielle credits God as she believes that her faith in Him was what carried her through.
"Emotionally, I had to learn to relax and not be anxious. Spiritually, my mother would remind me that God is in charge. We prayed and read the Bible everyday."
