Kevin Downswell Ministries restoring lives

Around last year this time, gospel recording artiste Kevin Downswell embarked on a journey to help people with the restoration of their relationship with God.

The minister explained that the project, called Realignment, was the result of a reflection session.

"The word realignment speaks for itself. It is about coming back, finding back yourself, restoration. We all have missed the way at some point in time or the other and will need to find back our godly path. Life has a way of eroding certain things, including our faith in God and our confidence in Him. The realignment events focus on ushering the lost and confused back to oneness with Jesus," Downswell told Family and Religion.

Now in chapter two of the initiative, which began last week, the man of God said that testimonies were already coming in.

"We have had testimonials from the kids we mentored to the patrons who came to each concert. One child we mentored left us a note informing us how this has changed her life. Patrons and others who we meet on a daily basis would tell us how grateful to God they are for giving us this vision because their families have begun to pray together again, and others would say they have recommitted their lives to God," he said, adding that testimonies were endless.

The Realignment initiative doesn't only cater to the spiritual man, but also to the physical through its philanthropic endeavours.

Downswell shared that this year, the project, which is done as a tour and concert with stops at various locations, focuses on giving back to the Ferris Primary School in Westmoreland and the Hanbury Home for Children in Manchester, two institutions where, according to him, the focus is to nurture, protect, and guide the children for whom they cater.

"We will be doing a number of things with them to help to enhance the learning environment of these institutions, and we will be able to do so with the help of our sponsors. A very important part of the initiative is undertaking a mentorship programme with the Hanbury Home for Children for the rest of the year. The aim is to encourage and strengthen them in believing in themselves and in the God who created them," he said, mentioning that the Kevin Downswell Ministries was truly grateful for the support they had been receiving and for all the other partners who are standing with them to have an impact on the lives of these children.

The final show of this chapter is set for tonight on the lawns of the Ranny Williams Entertainment Centre in Kingston.
