New director for Alliance Française de la Jamaique

The Alliance Francaise de la Jamaique has announced its appointment of a new executive director, Marie-Noelle Brunot. A native of Martinique, Brunot comes to Jamaica from St Lucia, where she was culture, cooperation and communication project officer for the Alliance FranÁaise in that country.

The Alliance Francaise, headquartered in Paris, is an international organisation that aims to promote the French language and culture around the world.

Created in 1883, its mandate is twofold: teaching French as a second language and promoting French and Francophone cultures. It has 850 centres in 137 countries on five continents. Alliance Francaise de la Jamaique started in Jamaica in 1956.

Background

Brunot has served in the United Nations Development Programme, Trinidad and Tobago; the Martinique Central Government; the Delegation of the European Union; and the Ministry of Health in Jamaica.

She holds an MSc degree in project management and international relations pursued at the Institute of Political Studies of Bordeaux (France), the University of the West Indies (Mona campus), and the University of the French West Indies (Martinique) and an MSc in politics and international cooperation from the University of the West Indies.
