Teachers, students mourn 9-y-o killed in crash

Teachers and students at Mona Heights Primary School in St Andrew are mourning the death of a fourth grade girl who died yesterday after a truck ran into her family’s dwelling house along Escarpment Road, also in St Andrew.

She is nine-year-old Geana Leathing.

“I’m so shaken,” one teacher said yesterday after learning of the crash.

Reports are that Geana’s sister was also injured in the crash and remains in hospital.

The police report that the truck was travelling along Escarpment Road when the driver lost control of the vehicle.

According to the police, the vehicle crashed into the house injuring five persons who were inside.

Geana was taken to hospital and died while undergoing treatment.
