Pearnel Charles among three to get NCU honorary doctorate degrees
Speaker of the House of Representatives Pearnel Charles is among three candidates for honorary doctorate degrees to be conferred by the Northern Caribbean University (NCU) in Manchester this month.
Charles, a former Cabinet minister and one of Jamaica's longest serving politicians, will be honoured at NCU's 95th commencement ceremony on August 12.
He will be presented with the Honorary Doctor of Public Service.

Managing director of the Development Bank of Jamaica Limited Milverton Reynolds and President of the Atlantic Caribbean Union Pastor Peter Kerr are the other two candidates.
Reynolds will be conferred with the Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters while Kerr will receive the Honorary Doctor of Divinity.

Two other persons will also receive special honours this year:
- Dr Owen Roberts, veteran educator and NCU alumnus, will be the recipient of this year’s President’s Medallion
- Hotelier, Businessman and NCU Alumnus Dennis Morgan will be recognised as this year’s Product Sample.
