St Andrew resident, 29-year-old mechanic Oshane Bogle, was today freed in the Gun Court of charges of illegal possession of firearm, illegal possession of ammunition and assault after a prosecution witness testified that the accused was framed by the police.

The prosecution led evidence that Bogle, in July 2014, drove a Mitsubishi Lancer motorcar in a dangerous and careless manner along the Mount Ogle main road in St Andrew in a bid to escape the police.

It was further alleged that Bogle eventually stopped at a dead-end road and came out of the vehicle, pulled a firearm and pointed it at the two policemen.

The cops reportedly fired at Bogle, hitting him in the head.

Bogle was then taken to hospital where he was treated for the gunshot wound and then subsequently charged with firearm-related offences.

A pastor, who was a witness for the prosecution, testified that he was in the vehicle with Bogle at the time of the incident.

The witness, who is also a Justice of the Peace, said Bogle did not want the police to seize his vehicle because it was a robot taxi which was not licensed or insured.

The pastor further testified that shortly after Bogle exited the vehicle the police shot him and said that he did not see the accused with a gun.

He testified that the policemen were not telling the truth about what happened.

In his defence, Bogle testified that he was innocent and that he did not have a gun.

He further told the court that he drove away from the police because the vehicle was not licensed or insured.

Bogle, who was represented attorneys-at-law Bert Samuels and Able-Don Foote, argued that based on the evidence presented their client should be acquitted.

Justice Andrea Pettigrew Collins found Bogle not guilty of all the charges and freed him.
