Diary of a Ghetto Priest | The last days

"...without concern for each other, there is loneliness and over-crowded cities" - Father Richard Ho Lung

I know that these are strange days. Never have I seen such grotesque images. Never have I experienced such poverty and the extreme riches of a few. Never have such cruelties and wickedness been enacted - man against his brother. Never have there been such absurdities in art, entertainment, and music.

There is immorality legalised more than ever before there is sickness and poverty without concern for each other, there is loneliness and overcrowded cities, there is man becoming woman and woman becoming man. There is godlessness and worship of the devil. There is greater belief in technology than reality.

I think, I meditate, I cry out to God, I return to my source of hope - my one true living God who is ever close to me despite the overwhelming sense of darkness gathering all around.

I fear selfishness, a world of 'I', 'me', 'myself'. I must be careful of introversion, anxiety, worry, fear of things falling apart. Despite the so-called world of progress, there is introversion - people are more disconnected from reality, from one another, themselves, and God.

... Living in whirlpool created by selfishness and greed

We are entering into a whirlpool of self-concern. It is a system created by selfishness and greed. If Christianity is the concern for God and for others, atheism is a denial of the value of charity and concern for others.

Look at the craziness of abortion. How can a mother kill her child as a sacrifice to preserve her life, how can we throw away our parents so that the young may prosper preferring their own lives over the care and protection of their elderly parents, who gave them life? How can the rich countries trade with the poor countries to squeeze out the last pennies to fill their pockets? How can wealthy people seek greater and greater profit and not care for their employees and their need for family life and housing and basic commodities.

Why all the suicide today among children and elders? Why all the promiscuity, and, self-indulgence in food, clothing, parties, tattoos?

God is being eliminated from schools, our world is throwing out its ancient values, Christians are being persecuted, the Church is in disarray, family life is being rejected by children and adults, drugs are legalised, madness is evident in the streets. So many people are in rags, so many people are naked or half-naked sleeping on the streets and begging in our ghettoes.

Revelations tells us, "The great city will be thrown down, never again to be seen. Never again will there be music; no harpists, minstrels, trumpeters, and flutists. Never again will an artisan of any trade be found in you...never again will the light of a lamp shine on you... . The voice of bridegroom and bride will never again be heard in you... . You led the nations astray by your magic spell." (Rev 18:1-2, 21-23, 19:1-3).

... The Devil is in flight

What is this magic spell? It is the spell of the devil loosened upon the Earth, thrown down from Heaven. The Devil is in full flight and active. He has turned things inside out. The law of God has been taken over by man. Satan, the author of confusion and lies, has got into the hearts and minds of man.

There is no true love, only self-love. The spirit of selfishness, which is the same as the spirit of hate, has won over our people. Now there is only self-concern, manifesting itself with so many different distorted people. It's a whirlpool, and we must get out of the trap!

Love! Love! Love! Love! Cling to Christ, whom the world hates! Hold on to Him. Live your lives in freedom. Selfishness is a prison of darkness. Escape from it, and concern yourselves for God and others; there is only weeping and gnashing their teeth in a world of rejection and loneliness.

Yes! Soon it will be! Our world cannot continue the way it is! God is absent. We are alone, we have rejected Him.

So, when you see things begin to happen, stand erect and lift up your heads, for your deliverance is drawing near." (Luke. 21:28).
