Policeman found dead in St Elizabeth

Published:Saturday | May 29, 2021 | 6:14 PM

The body of a policeman was found in his private motor vehicle late Saturday morning in St. Elizabeth, the police have confirmed.

The constabulary's Corporate Communications Unit says, at this point, he has only been identified as Sergeant Smith. He was found some time between 10:00 a.m. and noon.

His full name and details about the station or unit to which he was attached have not yet been confirmed and it's also not yet clear where the vehicle was found.

However, our sister station, Radio Jamaica, reports that the  sergeant was 51 year-old Lyncent Smith who was attached to the St Elizabeth Police division. His vehicle with the body was found in Goshen.

Relatives and friends say they had not heard from Smith since last Thursday.
