Section of Three Miles overpass bridge to be closed this weekend
The National Works Agency (NWA) has advised that a section of the upper bridge along Hagley Park Road, in the vicinity of the Three Miles intersection, will be closed to vehicular traffic this weekend.
It says the closure will impact the southbound lanes beginning at 9 a.m. on Saturday, with the road being reopened at 5 a.m. on Monday.
The closure is to facilitate repairs to the bridge approach road.
Manager of Communication and Customer Services at the National Works Agency (NWA), Stephen Shaw, says the repairs are necessary to improve driving conditions and safety along the section of roadway.
He says the scope of works include the installation of kerbs, the removal of a section of the asphalt pavement, which will be repaved with asphaltic concrete, and the raising of an existing manhole.
During the period of the closure motorists travelling along Hagley Park Road towards Marcus Garvey Drive will be diverted along the slip road, in the vicinity of Budget Supplies, past Hunts Bay Police Station and onto Marcus Garvey Drive.
The section of the bridge from Marcus Garvey Drive towards Half Way Tree will not be affected by these works.
Motorists are being encouraged to exercise caution while traversing the area during the period of the works and to observe the instructions of flag persons and posted warning signs.
