JLP condemns killing of mentally-ill man in Lilliput, St James
Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) councillor candidate for the Rose Hall Division, Anthony Murray, says his party condemns the "unfortunate incident" which took place in Lilliput, St James, on Thursday night.
A man, 44-year-old Kenroy Doeman, was shot and killed in a section of the community called Africa less than two hours after he allegedly set a campaign vehicle on fire. The vehicle is owned by People's National Party councillor candidate Jason Cummings.
"Let me first put on record that the Jamaica Labour Party distances itself from the incident that took place in Lilliput. We have no influence or anything to do with it, but we condemn that incident as an unfortunate one," Murray said on Friday.
Murray maintained that the Jamaica Labour Party is promoting a clean campaign.
"We do not support or promote violence and we are conducting a clean and fair campaign. It is unfortunate that the incident took place and someone had to lose their life," he said.
