Kim Mair (left), CEO of JMMB Joan Duncan Foundation, presents the Joan Duncan Award for Corporate Social Responsibility, and $50,000 to budding entrepreneurs Robert Williams (centre) and Rhea Johnson of Green Worx, during the recent Vincent HoSang/UWI Venture Competition award ceremony, held recently at the Mona School of Business and Management. As a long-standing partner, JMMB Joan Duncan Foundation donated a total of $1m towards the competition for this year. The prize is awarded to the team whose profit model demonstrates a strong alignment with ethical social and economic development, with a robust giving programme. Green Worx was awarded for its sustainable environmental practice, as a farming company centred around non-traditional farming practices, such as aquaponics and hydroponics using greenhouses, in a bid to reduce food insecurity.
