Four members of a family perished in a case of suspected arson in a section of Central Village known as Compound early Tuesday morning.

The reported firebombing resulted in the deaths of a woman, her two daughters and her grandchild.

The Gleaner understands that their charred remains were found sometime after 2 a.m. during cooling down operations by the Jamaica Fire Brigade.

A resident told The Gleaner that three bodies were found on the veranda and one in the bathroom.

There has been tension in the St Catherine community since Sunday.

A woman was shot in her face, and in another incident a man was shot and killed while his home was also firebombed.

The St Catherine South police are probing the incident.
