Two schools in St Mary are to benefit from the staging of the St Mary Kite and Food Festival 2024, set for Easter Sunday, March 31, at Buccaneer’s Jerk and Juice in Port Maria.

According to promoters,RG’s Events, St Cyprian’s Kindergarten and Preparatory School in Highgate, and Iona High School in Tower Isle, will be the schools benefiting.

“Over at Iona High, they want cameras and we’re going to be donating some to the school,” Jean Holloway, who is part of the promotion team, told The Gleaner.

“And we’ve identified a school in the Highgate area, St Cyprian’s Prep, that will be receiving from us around three fans for the classrooms, something that they are in desperate need of.”

“At the event itself, we’ll be giving away books, pencils, things that kids would use for school, and toys,” Holloway added.

The festival, which is in its third year, promises to have “everything” for the kids, who will ride all day, in addition to the gifts of school supplies and the excitement of flying kites.

The entertainment section in the evening will begin with gospel artistes Kevin Downswell and Gospel Head.

The main segment will feature Pablo YG, Jahshii, Najeeri, Mikeylous, Ratah Wild, Anue Nahki, Teebone, among other acts.

Gates to the event opens at 10 a.m., with the stage show beginning at 6 p.m.
