Michael Ricketts has been re-elected president of the Jamaica Football Federation (JFF), defeating challenger Raymond Anderson, 39-17 in a poll on Sunday.

The election, which was marked by a contentious campaign, took place at the Royalton Negril Hotel in Hanover.

"I was torn down. They knelt in my neck. I was treated like an outcast. I was disrespected but my work has been vindicated today," he said following the announcement of the results.

Ricketts previously defeated Stewart Stephenson to complete the JFF's 2015-2019 term after the death of then-president Captain Horace Burrell in 2017.

Ricketts, a former president of the Clarendon Football Association, was then re-elected in 2019 to a full four-year term.

The defeated Anderson served as a vice president.

The election was first set to be held in January but was delayed because of court challenges brought by Beach Soccer Jamaica.

More later.
