Man gunned down along Retirement Road in Cross Roads, St Andrew

A man was this morning fatally shot along Retirement Road in St Andrew.
The Gleaner understands that around 6 o'clock loud explosions were heard in the area.
When the shooting subsided, the unidentified man was found suffering from gunshot wounds.
A car also reportedly sped off.
The injured man was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The roadway has been cordoned off as investigators comb the scene for clues.
Motorists are being advised to use alternative routes.
The Cross Roads Criminal Investigation Branch is probing the deadly shooting.
There has been an 89 per cent increase in murders in the St Andrew Central Police Division year on year.
As at March 16, the division recorded 17 homicides.
This is eight more than the nine recorded for the corresponding period in 2023.
