Members of the Guys Hill police in St Catherine, in collaboration with its Youth Club, this week descended on the Jubilee Primary School in the parish with good cheer for the Easter.

The students were gifted with bun and cheese as part of their end-of-term activities.

It was the sports day and term break for the rural institution and the visit was well-received.

Principal Lilleath Murphy Gordon said it was a day well spent with the police.

"The Guys Hill police have always been a part of the school's family, so it was a pleasing gesture to have the members here today," Gordon said.

"We are always thankful that the police can keep us safe by just being kind. The thanks has trickled down to all 40 students plus those in the infant department," the educator concluded.

The occasion saw the police conversing with the students and engaging them in wholesome activities which can make them productive individuals.

Sub-Officer of the Guys Hill Police Station Sergeant Kenneth McTavish said the police enjoyed the interaction and look forward to continuing good relations.

"The children are the future, so it is necessary for us to form a good partnership with them. This is the Easter season, so it is timely that we show good community spirit. The team enjoyed the occasion and look forward to other such," McTavish said.

In the meantime, several residents of the school's community endorsed the gesture of the law enforcement personnel and the youth club.

The Jubilee Primary School was founded in 1895, moved to its current location in 1958 and remains a beacon of light through education in the rural township.
