The Portmore, St Catherine man charged in relation to the seizure of 28 rounds of ammunition was today denied bail in the parish court.

The bail hearing continued today for Ramone McDonald, who is charged with unauthorised possession of ammunition, with the investigating officer telling the court that a picture of him holding a gun was found in his phone.

The court also heard that the device has several photos of firearms.

Presiding Judge Desiree Allyene said that the additional information shows the serious nature of the allegations, and therefore bail was not an option.

The matter was ordered transferred to the Gun Court for mention on May 3.

Allegations are that on February 29, the accused was driving a motorcycle along a roadway when upon reaching the vicinity of Portmore Pines Plaza he was stopped by the police and a bag he was carrying was searched.

The police stated that 28 rounds of 5.56 calibre ammunition were discovered inside the bag.

He was arrested and subsequently charged.
