Coral Brissett, the 72-year-old man who reportedly fell into a trench outside of his Trelawny home and fractured his neck, has died.

Brissett's daughter, Maxine, told The Gleaner that he passed away on Thursday night at the Cornwall Regional Hospital in Montego Bay, St James, where he had been admitted for two weeks.

The elderly man was also left paralysed from the waist down, after he fell into the trench on March 23.

The trench, which is believed to have been dug by the Trelawny Municipal Corporation, has been a source of contention for the Brissett family for years, Maxine shared.

Maxine further explained that her father had journeyed to the Falmouth-based municipal corporation on multiple occasions to voice concern regarding the potential danger posed by the trench, however, he was told that it was located on the Government's land.
