Man charged with murder following stabbing death of woman in St Ann

Forty-year-old Theron Lugg, otherwise called 'Ruddy', of Windsor Heights, St Ann has been charged with murder following the stabbing death of a woman on Market Street in the parish on April 7.

The deceased has been identified as 48-year-old Taneka Mattis of Savanna-la-Mar, Westmoreland and Ocho Rios, St Ann.

About 10:45 p.m., residents reportedly saw the body lying on the roadway and alerted the police.

On their arrival, Mattis was seen with multiple stab wounds to the upper body. She was transported to the hospital, where death was confirmed.

Lugg was taken into custody on Tuesday following investigations.

He was subsequently charged after a question and answer on Wednesday.

His court date is being arranged.
