Portmore photographer charged for shooting two men

After being on the run for almost three years, 45-year-old Waterford, Portmore, St Catherine photographer Darian Clarke has been charged in connection with a 2021 gun attack in the municipality that left two men injured.

Clarke turn himself in to the police with his attorney on Wednesday.

He was subsequently officially charged with two counts of wounding with intent, shooting with intent, illegal possession of firearm and illegal possession of ammunition after a question and answer session.

A court date is being finalised.

The shooting happened on the night of June 21, 2021.

The police report that about 10 o'clock three men were walking along Biscayne Road in Portmore on their way from a party when they saw Clarke.

The complainants believed that Clarke was acting in a suspicious manner after he hid in bushes.

According to the police, fearing for their lives, the men decided to observe what was happening before attempting to pass.

When they approached the area the accused reportedly brandished a handgun and opened fire, hitting two of the three men.

A report was subsequently made to the police.

They say Clarke had eluded capture since then.

On Wednesday, April 24, Clarke surrendered to the police and was subsequently charged.
