Bail extended for Portmore man on firearm charges

A 45-year-old Portmore resident, Darian Clarke, who was charged with breaches of the Firearms Act following the injury of two men in 2021 is to appear in the Gun Court on June 5.

His bail was extended until then when he appeared in the St Catherine Parish Court on Tuesday.

Clarke is charged with illegal possession of firearm, illegal possession of ammunition and two counts of wounding with intent.

It is alleged that about 10 p.m. on June 21, 2021 the complainants were coming from an event and upon reaching Biscayne Road in Portmore, the accused fired his licensed gun, injuring the two men.

The men made a report at the Waterford Police Station and an investigation was launched.

Clarke's gun was seized, however, he was not seen again by the police until April 24, 2024 when he surrendered with his attorney.
