34-y-o man accused of having sex with a minor granted bail

A 34-year-old man who was found cohabiting with a 15-year-old girl was granted bail in the sum of $300,000 when he appeared in the St Catherine Parish Court on Friday.
The accused is charged with grievous sexual assault, sexual grooming and having sexual intercourse with a person under 16 years old.
Attorney-at-law Kemoy McEkron made the successful bail application when the matter came up before Parish Court Judge Gennetta Smikle.
Bail was granted on condition that the accused reappears in court on June 20, stays away from the complainant and surrenders his travel documents.
It is alleged that in 2023 the man sexually assaulted the teenager repeatedly and she ran away from home. She was found at his dwelling on May 15, 2024.
An investigation was launched and he was arrested and charged.
