Policeman, Haitians arrested in large ganja bust in St Elizabeth
A male constable attached to the marine police in Portland and two Haitian men were arrested on Thursday during an operation that saw the seizure of a large quantity of ganja in St Elizabeth.
They are held on suspicion of possession of ganja, conveyance of ganja, conspiracy, and other breaches of the Dangerous Drugs Act.
The police say an intelligence-driven narcotics operation led to the interception of a Toyota Hiace motor truck with three persons aboard.
The vehicle was searched and 14 knitted bags of ganja weighing 500 pounds were discovered.
The men were taken into custody.
The matter remains under investigation.
