The Jamaica Public Service Company is reporting that more than 400,000 Jamaicans, or about 65 per cent of its customers, are without power.

Director of Corporate Communications, Winsome Callum, says remote restoration of power supply is being done until the authorities lift the hurricane warning and clear the way for its teams to enter flood-ravaged communities.

"We're expecting that that number may go down tonight but unfortunately the majority will continue without [power] overnight until we get the all clear from the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management," she said.
