The Trelawny Municipality is facing a $30 million repair bill after Hurricane Beryl caused significant damage to several buildings across the parish.

Mayor Collen Gager reported on the damage during the municipality's monthly meeting today.

"The infirmary suffered major damage, with sections of its zinc roof blown away and its fencing flattened," Mayor Gager said.

"The 54 inmates are currently housed at the Hague Primary School, where repair work is ongoing."

The mayor also reported damage to the transport center, poor relief department, and market.

"At the transport center, we had just completed a shelter for passengers, but the hurricane blew away the zinc roofing. The market, which was slated for a $12.5 million renovation, suffered damage to its roof, leaving vendors exposed to the elements."

Mayor Gager is appealing to local business operators to assist with repairs to the transport center, offering a potential arrangement for advertisements in exchange for their help.
