The Wakefield Division in the Trelawny Northern constituency has received a total of $384 million for various projects, Member of Parliament Tova Hamilton announced during the divisional conference on Sunday night.

"In September 2020, you made a decision to change your representative. For 31 years, you waited for tangible representation after being neglected by the Orange Army. Under my leadership, you have benefited from improvements in sports, education, road upgrades, and pipeline laying on the RADA Farm Road in Blackwin," Hamilton stated.

The two largest projects include the $144 million resurfacing of Martha Brae to Bounty Hall and the $145 million resurfacing of Wakefield to Deeside.

"The road between Deeside and Wakefield now has a white line in the middle," Hamilton said.

Hamilton, who is from the ruling Jamaica Labour Party, also announced the reopening of the Post Office in Wakefield. "Work to restore the Post Office will begin shortly, bringing the full range of technology to the office."

The MP emphasised that the constituency can look forward to significant transformation.

"You can anticipate the US$1.3 billion Harmony Cove investment and the establishment of a Town Centre in Falmouth," she said referring to the mega tourism project that is expected to get under way after more than a decade in planning.
