The National Housing Trust (NHT) is advising mortgagors who suffered damage to their properties during the passage of Hurricane Beryl that they can submit an insurance claim.

The NHT says claims must be filed by Friday, August 16.

Affected mortgagors may file their claims at any NHT branch office.

The NHT is reminding mortgagors that they are able to benefit from peril insurance coverage.

How to apply

* Application forms can be found on NHT's website - www.nht.gov.jm

* Photographs of the damage

* Tax Registration Number (TRN)

* Valid identification

* Letter of authorisation (if someone other than the mortgagor is submitting the claim).

For any additional information, mortgagors may visit  www.nht.gov.jm or calling 888-CALL-NHT.

Meanwhile, the NHT is advising about fake news being circulated via email stating that contributors have been approved for relief funds.

This mail contains malicious links that seek to exploit contributors, the NHT noted.

It is warning persons not click on this link and report it to the relevant authorities.
