Man accused of sexually assaulting his daughter freed
A 40-year-old man who was accused of sexually assaulting his daughter was freed in the St Catherine Parish Court on Friday following a successful no-case submission.
He was answering to charges of sexual touching of a child, child abuse, indecent assault and grievous sexual assault.
When the matter was mentioned on Friday, attorney Chadwick Berry submitted that the witness lied in her testimony.
The Crown also conceded that the accused should not be called upon to answer to the charges and he was then freed.
In 2022, the then 14-year-old complainant reported that the accused had sexually molested her.
An investigation was launched by the Centre for the Investigation of Sexual Offences and Child Abuse and the accused was arrested and subsequently charged.
