Dana Sacchetti (left), head of the Jamaica Office of the World Food Programme (WFP) Caribbean Multi-Country Office, greets Oliver Blake (right), the United Kingdon Government’s development representative for Jamaica shortly, after signing an MOU for the UK’s contribution to Jamaica’s Hurricane Beryl relief efforts. The UK, through its Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, has partnered with the WFP to provide critical cash assistance to those Jamaicans most affected by Hurricane Beryl. The UK has committed a total of 500,000 pounds for the Caribbean region’s hurricane relief efforts, of which up to 160,000 pounds (US$200,000) will be directed towards cash transfer interventions in Jamaica.
