Jamaica Post says it continues to search for a suitable interim location to bring the operations of the Negril Post Office in Westmoreland closer to the town.

The agency says it understand the concerns and frustration of residents and is working to address the issue.

Arising from deteriorating conditions at the building, the Negril Post Office was in July relocated to the Little London Post Office to facilitate repairs.

“Despite our best efforts, we have been unable to secure a suitable location within the town,” the agency said in a statement today.

“Given the rapid worsening of the building's structure, a structural engineer was contracted to assess the structure and concluded that the facility was unsafe for use. This expert assessment served as the basis of the decision to temporarily close the Negril Post Office and move operations to Little London while renovations are under way.”

Jamaica Post says it is actively working on multiple fronts to resolve the situation.

“The procurement process for repairs to the Negril Post Office has already begun and we are expediting every possible step to ensure the restoration of services as soon as possible within the coming months.”
