Gleaner strongly dismisses false and misleading claims in viral video

The RJRGLEANER Communications Group has come out strong against the content in an AI-assisted video that has been circulating on social media, making “false and misleading” claims of political bias about The Gleaner and members of its team.
In defending the integrity of the 190-year-old media house and its team, the management of The Gleaner said, “The Gleaner wishes to make it clear that it holds in very high regard, the time-honoured tenets of journalism, and therefore pursues truth and seeks balance without fear, favour or agenda.”
Noting that it will take action to protect its team, the management further noted, “The Gleaner stands behind its team of journalists and notes that the claims are not only disparaging of both The Gleaner and its team of reporters, but they also put members of the team at risk of being targeted in varied ways.”

The RJRGLEANER Communications Group is aware of AI-assisted content, generated by persons unknown, which seeks to impugn the journalistic integrity of The Gleaner and names specific members of the team, seeking to smear their character.
This content is both false and misleading.
The Gleaner wishes to make it clear that it holds in very high regard, the time-honoured tenets of journalism, and therefore pursues truth and seeks balance without fear, favour or agenda.
The Gleaner stands behind its team of journalists and notes that the claims are not only disparaging of both The Gleaner and its team of reporters, but they also put members of the team at risk of being targeted in varied ways.
The Gleaner will act to protect its team which remains cautious but undeterred.
