Man arrested following alleged shootout with police in Old Harbour

The Old Harbour Criminal Investigation Branch is probing in the matter.

The Old Harbour police in St Catherine on Friday arrested a man who was among men who allegedly engaged cops in a shooting during an operation to recover a stolen car.

The police say a loaded Browning pistol was seized in the incident.

It is reported that about 5:00 p.m. the police in Old Harbour spotted a Honda Stream motor car which was reported stolen in May Pen, Clarendon.

The vehicle was intercepted along Old Harbour Road.

Upon reaching the Nightingale Grove community, the vehicle crashed into a ditch.

Occupants reportedly exited the car and fired shots at the police.

No one was hit.

A male occupant of the vehicle was held.

The Old Harbour Criminal Investigation Branch is probing in the matter.
