Update | St Mary teens held over Port Maria break-in charged
The St Mary police have charged the two 18-year-olds who were arrested earlier this week in connection with a break-in in Port Maria.
Euton Jones, otherwise called 'EJ', of River Lane, Port Maria, and Gavaughn Belto, otherwise called 'Vaughn', a construction worker of Albion Mountain, are charged with shop-breaking, larceny, possession of house-breaking implement and being armed with an offensive weapon.
The teens were charged after detectives unearthed evidence implicating them in an incident on Warner's Street, Port Maria in the early morning hours of Tuesday, December 11.
According to reports, a police team reportedly accosted the two teens when they were seen standing near a shop, acting in a manner that aroused the suspicion of the cops.
The police team reportedly searched them and the surrounding area and found a steel cutter.
A knife was also taken from one of the teens.
The team probed further and the teens emerged as suspects in the break-in at Warner's Street.
It is theorised that they removed a section of the shop's window, cut away the burglar bars and gained entry to the premises, where they stole cash.
While being interviewed, the two teens reportedly confessed to the break-in.
They were subsequently charged.
Their court date is being finalised.
