Motherhood has brought so much joy into my life and has allowed me to grow and become a better person. I am the proud mother of two beautiful children: Aiden my firstborn and my daughter Arielle. My children inspire me daily and give me a purpose to continue on this journey called life. I have grown so much as a mother, and some of my best lessons are from my children. Let's take this journey together in this space created by the Outlook Magazine - A Mother's Space.

Sitting here for the past hour, listening to the waves of the ocean, watching the tides collide, has been so therapeutic. I plan to spend the next 30 minutes engaging in mind relaxation. I won't surf the Internet, nor will I respond to any messages.

When my eyes are closed, I connect with my inner spirit, control the rhythm of my breathing and enjoy nature and this cool, soothing breeze. I may just take a long stroll after, open my heart and connect and talk with God. Today, I am simply embracing some mommy-alone time that I have so longed for. My body, my mind, my soul will thank me later.

Let's rewind. Before I got out of bed this morning, I said my prayer. I connect with God, sometimes question Him, read His word and ask Him to guide and protect my journey. I then hit my favourite corner and sit in silence for a few minutes in complete darkness, which is my form of meditation. I take my mind off all the worries, all the pain and just simply breathe. Many ask why do I seem so positive and always have a smile on my face. I simply respond I start my day right; connecting with my faith and my body. This journey started about four years ago, and there has been no turning back.

I am no supermodel, nor do I plan to showcase this figure of mine down the runway. I am just a simple country girl who takes care of the body I live in. I treat my temple with tender loving care by eating right most of the time, exercising four to six days a week, focusing on mental relaxation and staying away from toxic and negative energy. This truly has helped me deal with the struggles of motherhood and the journey that I face each day.

During the week, my alarm goes off at 4 a.m., and by 4:30 I am ready to get started. I try to have things organised, home chores completed, dinner prepared and everything ready to go before the crazy day starts. I make sure I start my day with a smile and say our family prayer before we drive out.

This temple of mine is so precious, as I have come to realise, having had my fair share of health issues. I treat it with tender loving care from the inside out. My skincare routine involves drinking lots of water daily, while adding my favourite regime from Jencare Skin Farm.

I also started my natural hair journey 18 months ago, and have chosen to use an organic-based line - Honey Vera JA. I ensure that I indulge in my body scrub, scented candle aroma, my favourite oil massaged all over at least once a week. My children know that mommy has to take care of herself just like the flight attendant would say, "If you are travelling with a child or someone who requires assistance, secure your mask on first, and then assist the other person." It may sound selfish at first, but remember that in order to take care of others, you have to be able to do so while taking care of you.

As mothers, we often neglect ourselves for our children. We make sacrifices daily, put our dreams on hold, and neglect our mind, body and soul. I challenge you today that if you start doing you and taking care of the body you are in, you will enjoy a fruitful and more rewarding life.

Your body is your temple, so keep your mind and spirit pure. They work together, so relax and reward yourself along the way and enjoy each day as if it was your last.

Your body is created in the image of God and is a gift from our Heavenly Father. As Jim Rohn states, "Take care of your body, it's the only place you have to live in."
