It was an emotional roller coaster for the colleagues of Nicaraguan Ambassador to Jamaica David McField McField on Thursday, April 6, as they bid him farewell and best of luck after seven years of service in Jamaica.
McField McField's farewell was hosted by the dean of the Diplomatic Corps, Dominican Ambassador Dr Jose Ares German, at The Jamaica Pegasus hotel. It was attended by his co-workers and close friends whose lives McField McField has impacted over the years.
Ares remembers his many spirited guitar performances, and how quickly he became a part of their bilateral group. Honorary Consul of Ecuador Clelia Barreto de Hunter also voiced her love and appreciation for McField McField, sharing that he has been of great help and a pillar of support for her during his tenure.
Permanent Secretary Marcia Gilbert-Roberts delivered a witty message from Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade Kamina Johnson Smith, displaying Johnson Smith's emotional goodbye and gratitude for McField's hard work and dedication.
"Jamaica will always be your home. Walk good and 'Mek good duppy follow yuh'," her message read.
After all the tributes, McField McField took to the stage to share his treasured memories and sadness in leaving Jamaica.
"It's hard to say goodbye. To leave Jamaica is quite a pain. You have made me feel at home. I've been very happy here, and members of the Diplomatic Corp have made my life sweet and easy," he revealed.
Ending the formalities with a cheer to good memories and hard work, the night was handed over to the musical stylings of Charmaine Limonius.
