International Women Jamaica host an afternoon With Juliet Holness
International Women, Jamaica hosts an afternoon with Juliet Holness
A quick journey through rural St Andrew to the lovely property of Rose Bennett Cooper and the late Cecil Cooper brought together a group of beautiful and talented women from different walks of life to enjoy each other's company at a luncheon with special guest, Juliet Holness.
Member of Parliament for East Rural St Andrew, Holness came to share an afternoon with International Women, Jamaica. The women present ranged from diplomats, wives of diplomats, to women that have come from other countries to make Jamaica their home. It was not only a melting pot of cultures, but of talents.
This is something that Holness recognised, and in her speech expressed her gratitude to be invited to speak among such a great group of women. She admitted that it was a good thing for women to gather to converse among themselves without the men.
HAVING IT ALL
"Women, you deserve to have it all," were words that resonated throughout her speech. She noted that having it all is subjective to each individual. Her everything as wife, mother, politician and business woman will not be everything to someone else. So go after your everything.
Holness also touched on the issues of violence against women and children and the steps that her husband, Prime Minister Andrew Holness, is taking to get corporal punishment out of schools.
After her speech, she was gifted a lovely painting by Tina Spiro called 'Torched Lily'. She also promised to help in the club's endeavours whenever she has the time.
The formalities ended but the mingling did not, and the women shared their past and present with a great view of the countryside as their spectator.
