Style the Mile
Come December 2, Caymanas Race Track will for the third time, play host to the Diamond Mile. One of the most prestigious races on the calendar, it is complemented by much pomp and pageantry.
This year, to give patrons some fashion inspiration, The Betting Gaming and Lotteries Commission turned to fashion designer Keenea Linton-George who recently unveiled a specially curated line fit for the races.
A select few with impeccable fashion taste, were invited to four private viewings of Linton-George's Diamond Mile fashion collection at an event dubbed Style the Mile, at her Lady Musgrave Road boutique.
She told Outlook; "We wanted to get people to dress up a little more fancy with pieces that are appropriate for the races to inspire them."
The 14-piece collection style with hats by White Lotus, had something for every body type. There were shift dresses, straight, pencil and A-line skirts, in prints and solids, and for those who may prefer not to wear a dress there were also some pants.
Linton-George explained that for the event that calls for daytime formal/daytime cocktail, she was cognisant of the fact that we live on a tropical island, so, "the pieces had to be breathable but still look fabulous as it's a photo moment."
Linton-George gave Outlook a few fashion tips, as you 'Style the Mile'.
Tips:
1. Stay away from stilettos — wear a chunky heal or wedge so you don't sink as some areas will be grass.
2. Sunglasses are a must.
3. Wear a fabulous hat.
4. Go a notch above what you ordinarily wear - out do yourself and take a risk, be extra fancy.
5. Buy local. Get something made locally which minimises the risk of you wearing something that someone else has on. You want to stand out.
