Miller Campbell started out as an accountant but she always wanted to help people directly. Her disdain for blood kept her from pursuing opportunities in the medical field. It was not until she went for a massage that the light bulb went off in her head that this was it, this was how she could help people. A masseuse uses their hands to relieve the pressure and symptoms of stress persons may be feeling. The hands of a masseuse ease tension and help the mind, body and soul.

Today Miller Campbell employs new experiences to the traditional spa-goer with Tranquility Salon and Spa.

Miller Campbell attended the Florida Career College in Miami and was certified in clinical skincare and massage therapy and returned home to start Tranquility Salon and Spa. It was registered in February 2014. It's a small spa with a few tricks up its sleeves. Miller Campbell brought three new massages to the table in 2017 - the Aurora; Heavenly; and Lion in Zion.

The Aurora although being offered only for a limited time is a combination of a two-layer facial and a hot stone massage wrapped in one service. It is tailored to the customer's facial concerns to give a youthful glow and reduce acne spots. This service is designed with the aim of giving customers a radiant glow as bright as the Northern Lights - hence the name. The facial is combined with hot stones applied to the body which has a tranquillising effect that can relieve chronic pain, reduce stress and promote deep relaxation.

"This will leave you illuminated, radiant and beautiful," she told Outlook.

The Heavenly which is a 60-minute massage is a new take on sensory deprivation, as guests don noise-cancelling headphones to partake in this unique sensory experience. It also involves hot and cold with what she describes as healing massage oils to revitalise the spirit and mesmerise the brain. The Lion in Zion is a combination designed to awaken the spiritual inner being.

"I wanted to offer our clients the opportunity of experiencing something that goes deeper, that awakens the chakras (energy), clears blockages in your energy flow and helps them experience and express their luminous spirit," Miller Campbell said of Lion in Zion.

In her compact spa, she also offers the basic treatments such as Swedish, hot stones and basic facial. She also offers a pumpkin facial which she describes as a power-peel enzyme treatment that relies on the power of seasonal fruit to hydrate and brighten the skin. Then there is the coffee wrap pedicure which is complemented by a rich aroma. This treatment incorporates products from the Blue Mountains and Cuccio Naturale' with an Essie finish.

There is also the One Love Spa, Tropical Hawaiian fruit body peel, winter solstice, lash lift and tint, brow wax and tint, herbal healing massage for chronic pain relief, flame massage, exotic shell massage, and a few other wellness experiences.

Miller Campbell said she knows that Tranquility Salon and Spa has what it takes to be a game changer in the Jamaica spa industry.
