Customs brokers celebrate 50th anniversary
The Customs Brokers and Freight Forwarders Association of Jamaica (CBFFAJ) was founded on November 15, 1965, to represent the interests of local customs brokers.
Now a mature organisation, at 50 years, it has contributed significantly to the development of the trade-logistics landscape in Jamaica.
A visit to the governor general of Jamaica was scheduled as part of the 50th-anniversary celebrations for the association when 10 members made the pleasant trip to King's House. As part of this memorable visit, discussions were had with Sir Patrick Allen on the achievements of the association as well as its involvement in the preparations for the establishment of the Logistics Hub.
According to the visiting team, Sir Patrick seemed particularly pleased at their eagerness in the establishment of the new facility. The association noted that while it will bring challenges, the hub will also bring increased business to Jamaica's shores, thereby increasing employment across the country.
The association is seeking to get its members ready, through training, as well as participation in various committees working towards successful implementation of the Hub.
