On September 22, 2017, the Shipping Association of Jamaica (SAJ) will be mounting its annual Wellness Expo. The venture is aimed at cultivating and growing a culture of work/life balance in SAJ members, staff and affiliate companies. In its third staging, the theme this year is 'Health is a state of mind, wellness is a state of being' and is intended to assist industry participants to enrich their relationships, to foster collaboration and decrease stress in an effort to create a happier, more relaxed and more productive workplace.

Participants will enjoy a day of soothing and relaxing activities, such as massages and make-up demonstrations; gastronomical activities, such as sampling healthy foods, and natural juices; and other activities designed to facilitate wellness.

Terrence Brooks, human resources manager at the Shipping Association of Jamaica, said, "Our industry is known for its hard-working and high-performance professionals; we also want to ensure that they can enjoy the rest and rejuvenation that will help to keep them at their best. We look forward to their participation in even larger numbers this year because this expo is for them."

Occupational health nurse at the SAJ, Shorna McGhie, added, "The men were happy that we provided special services for them last year and they will be pleased to know that we will be providing for them again this year."

The expo will take place at the association's Fourth Avenue offices and the activities are scheduled to take place all day.
