SAJ spreads Christmas joy
The Shipping Association of Jamaica (SAJ) hosted its annual Christmas treat for the elderly in Greenwich Farm recently. One hundred elderly residents of the community received gift bags filled with grocery items. Before the handing over of the gift bags, which took place at the Holy Name of Jesus Church in the community, they were engaged by SAJ staff members in the singing of their favourite Christmas carols.
The SAJ also treated the students of Marcus Garvey Basic School with a party and gifts. The early childhood institution, which is located in Greenwich Farm, is the SAJ’s adopted school.
In addition to the yearly Christmas treat, they receive funding for teachers’ salary, a student feeding programme, and infrastructural development.
The Greenwich Farm community has been a major part of the SAJ outreach initiatives.
