Corporate Services and Client Experience Manager at Kingston Wharves Limited (KWL), Simone Murdock (right), presents gifts of tablets to children of St Anne’s Primary School in west Kingston. Accepting are Principal Omar Thomas and two of the beneficiary students, Damarion Smith and Shynee Anderson. KWL provided tablets and an expanded Internet service valued at more than $500,000 to the school.

In line with its commitment to education and as part of its 75th anniversary outreach, Kingston Wharves Limited (KWL) recently donated tablets and Internet service valued at over $500,000 to the St Anne’s Primary School in West Kingston. The tablets will be used by the students to carry out their daily academic activities.

Corporate Services and Client Experience Manager at Kingston Wharves, Simone Murdock, noted that KWL’s decision to donate the tablets and upgrade the school’s Internet service was consistent with the company’s ongoing support for the development of Jamaica’s youth, whether through education, sports or the arts.

“Kingston Wharves views education as paramount. We also recognise the difficult times schools and parents are having in accessing learning equipment for the students; a need made more critical due to the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, where e-learning is now the order of the day and some families are facing greater economic challenges,” Murdock observed.

“We hope this donation will help alleviate the burden on parents and teachers, while assisting the children to learn and achieve success in their academic endeavours,” Murdock added.

Principal of St Anne’s Primary Omar Thomas thanked Kingston Wharves for the gift, noting, “The donation came to us at the right time for the students. The students appreciate the gifts so much, knowing they had no means of connecting and accessing the Google Classroom without them.”

“On behalf of the St Anne’s Primary School and board of governors, we thank the team at Kingston Wharves for partnering with us by donating these tablets. We will do our best to ensure the children take care of the devices and use them for their intended purpose,” Thomas said.
