THE SHIPPING Association of Jamaica (SAJ) fielded a team of 60 participants in the 2024 Sagicor Sigma ‘Honour’ Run held Sunday, February 18. The annual charity road race, dedicated to the late R. Danny Williams, founder of Sagicor and former Sagicor Foundation chairman, achieved a fundraising milestone, collecting a record $109 million for its three designated beneficiaries – the Savanna-la-Mar Public General Hospital, the National Chest Hospital, and the Danny Williams School for the Deaf.

Several SAJ members, including Kingston Wharves Limited, Kingston Freeport Terminal Limited, Lannaman and Morris, Maritime and Transport Services and Seaboard Jamaica were also present.

The event, considered the largest charity road race in the Caribbean, drew a record number of 27,349 participants, a significant increase compared to the previous year’s turnout of just over 21,000 individuals. The funds raised will contribute to vital healthcare and educational initiatives to address critical community needs.
